Investor Relations
Symmetricom leads the world in the design and manufacture of precise time and frequency products and services essential to communication, computation, transportation, space and many electronic systems. Our products bring critical timing, frequency and synchronization solutions to telecom, enterprise, and space, defense, and avionics networks in over 90 countries. Symmetricom products control or synchronize the flow of voice, video, and data throughout IP, wireline and wireless networks, enabling our customers to maximize network efficiency and quality of service.
The network of GPS satellites, the Naval Observatory, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology rely on Symmetricom products for the ultimate in accuracy. These include atomic frequency references, such as rubidium, cesium and hydrogen masers, GPS time and frequency receivers, distribution systems and analysis software. Symmetricom technologies, including expertise in Network Time Protocol (NTP), Precision Time Protocol (IEEE 1588), and DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) are a fundamental part of the migration to Next-Generation Networks (NGN). Symmetricom is located in San Jose, Calif., with offices worldwide.
Brief History
From day one, innovation has been the foundation of our company. For more than fifty years Symmetricom has lead the industry by designing and manufacturing advanced electronic systems that combine state of the art engineering, unparalleled durability, and a relentless focus on our customer's needs. We shipped out first network synchronization product in 1986 and since then telecom companies, cable providers, and customers in government, military, and aerospace have relied on Symmetricom for precision timing, reference, and frequency signal equipment. With the acquisition of TrueTime, Inc. and Datum, Inc. in 2002, Agilent Technologies' Frequency and Time Standards product line in 2005, and Timing Solutions in 2006, we continue to lead the industry in timing and frequency products and services.
As telecommunications carriers build out their Next Generation Networks with new applications such as IPTV, cellular, VoIP, high-speed data, and service assurance solutions, we recognized the opportunity to build upon our expertise of enabling Quality of Service through precise timing distribution. In 2007 we acquired QoSMetrics to address the growing Quality of Experience (QoE) needs of telecom and cable providers to support the quality delivery of video over converged IP infrastructures.
Now in our sixth decade, we continue to build on our heritage of innovation as we develop critical infrastructure products for next generation IP cable networks and telecom carriers.
Organization
Symmetricom is organized into two core business groups:
Telecom Solutions Division (TSD)
Telecom Solutions Division provides network timing and synchronization equipment and components to the global telecommunications industry for the wireline (land-based), wireless and cable markets. Our products provide the critical infrastructure that ensures information, voice, video, or data is transmitted accurately and reliably across traditional narrowband and next generation digital broadband networks. Our Quality of Experience IP video monitoring tools enable cable service providers to meet the challenges of high bandwidth, real-time video delivery over IP networks.
Timing, Test and Measurement Division (TT&M)
Timing, Test and Measurement Division provides equipment to generate and distribute precise time and frequency to a wide variety of industries including IT networks, government laboratories, metrology services and space, defense and avionics contractors. Our products include state-of-the-art atomic frequency references designed for ultra-precise timing, testing, verification and measurement of time and frequency-based signals.
